1. CEREMONY – CATEDRAL EMPERATRIZ DE SANTA ELENA
Coming from a catholic family the church was very important to me. It was love at first sight! Even though it is not a popular church for weddings (because it doesn’t have A/C) I decided I wanted to get married here. The beautiful colonial exterior and details in guayacán wood and the beautiful hand carved mural inside made it so special & cozy. We installed portable A/C and additional ventilation to keep it comfortable.
La iglesia era algo muy importante para mi debido a que vengo de una familia católica. ¡Fue amor a primera vista! Aunque no es una iglesia popular para bodas (porque no tiene aire acondicionado), decidí que quería casarme ahí. Tiene una fachada tipo colonial con detalles en madera de guayacán y un hermoso mural tallado a mano en el interior, todo esto lo hacia un lugar especial y acogedor. Para nuestra boda decidimos instalar A/C portátiles y adicional algunos ventiladores para estar más cómodos.

2. VENUE – LUGAR DE LA RECEPCIÓN
My husband’s family owns a beautiful piece of land right on the beach of Punta Barandua, Ecuador. There is a family house and next to it there is an empty lot that we paved with cobblestone for the wedding. Now they rent the space for weddings and all type of events! They have the most spectacular sunset view, perfect for a daytime wedding. (@casadelmar.ecu)
La familia de mi esposo tiene un hermoso terreno en la playa en Punta Barandua, Ecuador. Es una casa familiar y al lado había un lote vacío, el cual pavimentamos con adoquines para la boda. ¡Actualmente alquilan el espacio para bodas y todo tipo de eventos! 3. MAID OF HONOR, BRIDESMAID, FLOWER GIRLS & BOYS – CORTE Y MI DAMA DE HONOR
Since we love our nieces & nephews and have a lot of them we decided to have all 11 of them as flower girls & boys. My little sister Paula was my maid of honor and Felipe’s little sister Camila was my only bridesmaid.
Como amamos mucho a nuestras sobrinas y sobrinos y tenemos muchos, decidimos tener 11 niñas y niños como parte de nuestra corte. Mi hermana pequeña Paula fue mi dama de honor y la hermana pequeña de Felipe, Camila, fue mi única dama.
I never thought of a color for their dresses, I coincidently found 2 beautiful red dresses as options for them that they loved them so that was it! Paula (on my left) wearing Marchessa Notte and Camila (on Felipe’s right) wearing Purificacion Garcia.

Nunca pensé en un color para sus vestidos, casualmente encontré 2 hermosos vestidos rojos como una buena opción para ellas y los amaron, ¡Y eso fueron! Paula (a mi izquierda) usando un vestido de Marchessa Notte y Camila (a la derecha de Felipe) usando un modelo de Purificación García.

4. MY DRESS & SHOES – MI VESTIDO Y ZAPATOS
My dress was Mira Zwillinger, designer from Israel (@miraswillinger) I bought it at Joan Pillow Bridal (@joanpillowbridal) in Houston. It wasn’t the first dress I tried, but it was as they describe it…I tried it on and knew it was the one. I fell in love with the fit, the handsewn flowers in degrade and loved the arm accessories that were removable and made it versatile… forever in awe of their work! Mi vestido era Mira Zwillinger, (@miraswillinger) una diseñadora de Israel. Lo compré en Joan Pillow Bridal (@joanpillowbridal) en Houston. No fue el primer vestido que me probé, pero fue como dicen… Cuando me lo probé supe que era el indicado. Me enamoré del modelo del vestido, las flores cosidas a mano y lo que me encantó fue el detalle de las mangas que se podían remover lo que le daba un toque versátil… ¡Siempre me asombró su trabajo! 5. MAKE UP | HAIR | JEWELRY – MAQUILLAJE | PEINADO | ACCESORIOS
For makeup & hair I highly recommend 3 things:
1) Stay true to your style and your regular choice of hair & make up. Definitely not a time to try a new hairstyle or make up trend. You definitely want to look & feel comfortable.
2) Do a makeup & hair test prior to your wedding day. It will allow you to try different color palettes and be sure about what you want. Take a lot of pictures during the test of the products you used and the final result to recreate the look you worked on your wedding day! No surprises = no stress!
3) Work with people who have already done your make up and hair in the past. Do not try the famous makeup artist on your wedding day, might not be what you are looking for so why risk it?
Para el maquillaje y peinado, recomiendo 3 cosas:
1) Manten tu estilo habitual de peinado y maquillaje. Definitivamente este no es un buen momento para probar un nuevo peinado o una nueva tendencia de maquillaje. Definitivamente vas a querer verte y sentirte cómoda.
2) Haz una prueba de maquillaje y peinado antes del día de tu boda. Esto te permitirá probar diferentes paletas de colores y estar segura de lo que quieres. ¡Toma muchas fotos durante la prueba, de los productos que utilizó y el resultado final para que vuelva a realizar el mismo trabajo el día de tu boda! cero sorpresas = cero estrés!
3) Trabaja con personas que ya te hayan maquillado y peinado antes. No intentes con un famoso maquillador el día de tu boda, puede que no sea lo que estás buscando, ¿para qué arriesgarte?
6. HIS OUTFIT – EL OUTFIT DE ÉL
He went for a “chaquet” or “formal day dress” (Like a tux, but for day time) custom made by Gustavo Moscoso, Ecuadorian designer (@gustavmoscoso), a Brioni tie and Ferragamo shoes. Both of our wedding bands are by Cartier in rose gold.
Fue por un “chaquet” o “traje formal” (como un esmoquin, pero para el día) fue hecho a medida por Gustavo Moscoso, diseñador ecuatoriano (@gustavmoscoso), una corbata Brioni y zapatos Ferragamo. Nuestras dos alianzas son de Cartier en oro rosado.
7. DECOR – DECORACIÓN

One of my mom’s closest friends is a well-known event designer, decorator, & artist. So we always knew she was going to be the decor for our wedding. We worked closely on the style and then she took care of everything! Furniture, structure, bar set up, food & dessert set up, flower arrangements & even my flower bouquet! It was even more beautiful I could have ever imagined and took about 5 days to complete the set up! The dance floor was printed by Offset Abad with a design I worked on and we custom made the cushions to match the dance floor pattern. All about the details…

Una de las amigas más cercanas de mi mamá es una conocida diseñadora y decoradora de eventos. Así que siempre supimos que ella haría la decoración de nuestra boda. ¡Trabajamos conjuntamente en el estilo de la boda y luego ella se encargó de todo! Muebles, estructura, bar, comida y mesa de dulces, arreglos florales e incluso mi ramo de flores. ¡Fue aún más hermoso de lo que podría haber imaginado y llevó unos 5 días el montaje total! La pista de baile fue impresa por Offset Abad con un diseño personalizado e hicimos los cojines a medida para que coincida con el patrón de la pista de baile. Todo se trata de los detalles…

8. WEDDING PLANNER
Ana Maria Santos (@anamariasantos.events) has all the contacts and different options for vendors and made sure everything was on time and ran smoothly on our wedding day!

9. BAND & DJ
We loved the music on our wedding! Felipe carefully selected the songs for the band to play and the DJ’s list! Rewind Band (@rewindgrupo) and DJ Braulio Velez (@djbrauliovelez)

10. CATERING & SERVICE – SERVICIO DE CATERING
The morning after our wedding we woke up and asked my mom for left overs. She said: “WHAT left overs?” There was NOTHING left! People complimented us about the menu and food selection for months! Catering + service was amazing by LAS SEMINARIO (@lasseminario) We did a buffet so people could eat whenever they felt like it! Also we added a seafood “parrillada” by “Fusion by Angelica”. And for sweets we set up a dessert table with assorted mini desserts mainly from @postresdianacarrion (her pistachio truffles are the best!!!!!) & @chokolat (I love their white chocolate florentinas!)
La mañana después de nuestra boda nos despertamos preguntamos a mi mamá por las sobras del día anterior. Ella dijo: “¿QUÉ queda?” ¡No queda nada! ¡La gente nosfelicitó por el menú y la selección del catering durante meses! El servicio de catering fue increíble por LAS SEMINARIO (@lasseminario) ¡Hicimos estilo buffet para que la gente pudiera comer cuando quisiera! También agregamos una parrilladade mariscos de “Fusion by Angelica”. Y para los dulces, preparamos una mesa de postres con bocaditos variados, principalmente de @postresdianacarrion (¡sus trufas de pistacho son las mejores!) Y @chokolat (¡me encantan sus florentinas de chocolate blanco!)

11. PHOTOGRAPHY – FOTOGRAFÍA
Amongst my top 3 priorities was having a good photographer. Trust me. You will NEVER regret the buck paid in your photographer, so hire a good one that matches your style! These are the memories you’ll have about this day that will last a lifetime! My photographers were Adriana & Christian (@adrianaychristian) Adriana shot thephotos of my engagement, my civil ceremony and then the wedding. I love their work and would 1000% recommend them! Not only artists but professionals, they keep working on their technique and skills and are the best in what they do! Adriana made sure I had all the best shots so I could focus on having a good time! And Christian made Felipe feel so comfortable that we could actually take great shots! Love you guys!
Entre mis 3 prioridades principales estaba tener un buen fotógrafo. Créanme. NUNCA te arrepentirás del dinero pagado en tu fotógrafo, ¡así que contrata uno bueno que coincida con tu estilo! ¡Estos son los recuerdos que tendrás sobre este día que quedarán para toda la vida! Mis fotógrafos fueron Adriana y Christian (@adrianaychristian) Ellos tomaron las fotos de mi compromiso, mi ceremonia civil y luego la boda eclesiástica. ¡Amo su trabajo y los recomendaría en un 1000%! ¡No solo son artistas sino profesionales, siguen trabajando en su técnica y habilidades y son los mejores en lo que hacen! ¡Adriana se aseguró de que tuviera todas las mejores fotospara poder concentrarme en pasar un buen rato! ¡Y Christian hizo que Felipe se sintiera tan cómodo que pudiéramos tener buenas fotos! ¡Los quiero chicos!

Love the storytelling behind Vivi Lebed’s (@quimerafilms) work. I love her style and she is able to capture all of the most special moments of a wedding so I hired her for both the civil ceremony & the wedding. I loved the result!
