After 5.6 years dating and MANY ups and downs Felipe proposed to me at the beach on his birthday, November 18th 2017. He managed to surprise me and I’m not easy to surprise because I don’t like people keeping secrets from me… Getting married was for sure something we had talked about for over a year (which honestly made me a little impatient towards the end) so I was definitely waiting for him to pop the question.
Después haber estado saliendo por 5 años 6meses y entre MUCHOS altibajos, Felipe me propuso matrimonio en la playa el día de su cumpleaños, 18 de noviembre de 2017. Se las arregló para sorprenderme y no soy fácil de sorprender porque no me gusta que la gente me oculte secretos… Casarnos era sin duda un tema del que habíamos estado hablando ya por un año (llegándome a impacientar), así que definitivamente estaba esperando que él hiciera la pregunta.
His birthday was on a Saturday, so he had decided to spend a night at the beach at his sister’s house. On Friday night we went out with his friends and celebrated, on Saturday morning we went for brunch and then drove towards the beach. He was unusually quiet and I was sleepy so I kind of feel asleep for a while. Honestly it was a very normal and quiet morning. When we got close to the house he started driving really slow and we drove 200 meters past the house where there was this beautiful set up. I could see an arch of roses and the words “It was always you…”
Su cumpleaños era un sábado, por lo que había decidido pasar una noche en la playa en la casa de su hermana. El viernes por la noche salimos con sus amigos y celebramos, el sábado por la mañana tuvimos un brunch y luego salimos para la playa. Felipe estaba muy callado lo que era inusual en él pero no preste mucha atención y como tenía sueño quedé dormida un rato. Honestamente, parecía una mañana normal y tranquila. Cuando nos acercábamos a la casa, él comenzó a conducir muy despacio y avanzamos 200 metros más adelante de la casa en donde había esta hermosa sorpresa. Pude alcanzar a ver un arco de rosas y las palabras “Siempre fuiste tú…”
I looked at him, and he smiled at me and we started walking towards it. We hugged for what felt like 20 min in complete silence. Until he started shaking a little bit, smiling and laughing and started to tell me all the reasons why he loved me and wanted to spend the rest of his life with me, he went down in one knee and asked “Te quieres casar conmigo?” Would you marry me. I think I said yes in 1/3 of a second.
Lo miré y él me sonrió, nos abrazamos y caminamos hacia la pergola en completo silencio, este lapso de tiempo para mi parecieron como 20 minutos. Hasta que comenzó a temblar un poco y entre sonrisas y risas comenzó a decirme las razones por las que me amaba y que quería pasar el resto de su vida conmigo, se arrodilló y me preguntó “¿Te quieres casar conmigo?”. Creo que dije que sí en 1/3 de segundo.
I knew I wanted to marry him for a while, but I had always wondered how I was going to feel when the moment came. Was I going to be scared? Maybe a little doubtful? I got my answer to that pretty quick…
Sabía que quería casarme con él desde hace algún tiempo, pero siempre me había preguntado cómo me sentiría cuando llegue ese momento. ¿Tendría miedo? Tal vez un poco de duda? Recibí mi respuesta a eso bastante rápido…
We had a special moment alone. Hugging, kissing and just talking. He had hired my friend (and photographer) who captured all of these beautiful photos from a far. And then he said, look over there… And I saw my dad walking towards me…. My heart started melting… I cannot express how I felt when my dad hugged me and how much I cried. Suddenly everyone else came out of the house and surprised me. My mom, my siblings and the rest of his family!
Tuvimos un momento especial los dos solos y conversamos un poco. Había contratado a una amiga (y fotógrafa) que capturó todas estas hermosas fotos desde lejos y luego me dijo, mira hacia allá… Y vi a mi papá caminando hacia mí… Mi corazón comenzó a acelerarse … Realmente no puedo expresar cómo me sentí al ver a mi papá, me abrazó y comencé a llorar. De repente, todos los demás salieron de la casa y me sorprendieron. ¡Mi mamá, mis hermanos y el resto de su familia!
We went inside the house and I changed really quick before the celebration started! I had another outfit with me so maybe my subconscious kind of knew?!
¡Entramos en la casa y me cambié muy rápido antes de que comenzará la celebración! Tenía otro atuendo conmigo, ¿tal vez mi subconsciente lo sabía?

Uti, tienes una historia de vida impresionante. Tu familia, tu lucha con la enfermedad de tu papi, tu boda (qué de paso se convirtió en mi main inspo? para cuando llegue el momento), hasta las cosas más cuteeee cómo tu estilo, tu ropa, todoooo!
